First Aid
Teacher-in-charge: Mrs B. Coney

During the year the team supports the schools different sporting activities. Rugby and athletics being two of the more stressful sports to watch over. We as one team, watch over, protect and care for the Fourways High School legends.
July, August, September and October have been the months the school has been training new members of the first aid family. The school offers the levels 1, 2 and 3 of first aid. These levels cover the basics of HHHABC (Hazard, Hello, Help, Airway, Breathing and Circulation). They also cover the steps of CPR and the Heimlich manoeuvre, how to perform a log roll, how to use a scoop stretcher and how to secure and protect basic injuries, for example : sprains, breaks, twists, concussions, pulled muscles and ligaments or tendons, dislocations of any kind, bleeding wounds and other strange incidents that might take place while waiting for the paramedics to arrive.
A normal school day may consist of injuries that might occur at any time. This is what makes part of being the first aid team worthwhile as you never know when your next incident is going to happen. We are always prepared to help those in need of first aid.
